What is a Demon?
What is a Demon?
A demon is a creature born in the third or fourth world that has inherent magical capabilities or talents. Some demons are born in the Dreaming and have limited control over that area, such as being able to weave a new thread to escape a particularly nasty dream. These demons take many shapes and include kistune (fox demons), tengu (crow demons), Dragons, and Fallen Angels.
What is a Demidemon?
A demidemon is the offspring of a purebred demon and a human. Demons can only reproduce among themselves and with humans, and the latter offspring often take characteristics of their demonic parents. This can mean being able to take the form of a Demon for a short time or having extended magical sensitivity.
What are Demonic forms?
Demons have their original form and a ‘human’ form. Take a dragon, for instance. A Westerner dragon’s original form is that of a large, scaly, winged creature. However, to comingle on worlds other than its home world, it can take more human-looking form. However, it will retain some of its Demonic characteristics, such as claws or wings, or even its eyes and tongue. All of that is up to the ooc playing it.
What are some Demonic powers?
All Demons have a specific element they draw power from, and that usually colors their magical capabilities. Do more research if you’re curious, but here are a few elemental examples:
Water: healing powers, divination powers
Earth: growing powers, powers of rest, most closely associated with death
Fire: healing powers, protection
Air: flight, rebirth
What are some of the Demons?
- Kistune are fox demons, and stereotypically have several tails. They can take either the forms of large foxes (of any color, really) or as human-like foxes. They are typically associated with the element Fire, but any is alright (provided that it makes sense).
- Tengu are crow demons. They are typically thought of as large humans with elongated noses and large crow wings. An element resonant of them would be air, but both Earth and Water should be fine (provided that it makes sense).
- Dragons are what they sound like. They can be more Westernized and be large and fire-breathing or more Eastern and be long twisting rain-bringers. Depending on their origin they can have Fire or Water as their element.
- Fallen Angels are resonant of dreams, typically the kind that start well but end with falling to one’s doom or other dark twists. They can take nearly any form, but are often winged. Their element is Earth.
- Harpies appear like women with bird bodies, but do have a separate 'temptress' form. They are frequently found luring men in for a midnight snack under the guise of infatuation. Their element is up for debate.
