Yes, roleplaying does have rules as well. However, these are simply to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment- for everyone. Keep in mind we do enforce both our own rules and Proboards TOS. Failure to follow these could get your banned or your account deleted. Trying to return will get that account deleted as well. Sorry, but that’s how it works. Violation of these rules will indeed earn you severe punishments. Please just follow the rules and everything will be fine. If you have any questions after reading, PM the admin.
1. Salty Language
Obviously, certain words will be tolerated. However, others will be censored out and replaced with “Will be reading the forum rules again”. Both the f-bomb and d-word are tolerated, but any racist, sexist, or other derogatory words will not be. Some cases may earn automatic suspension, so watch it.
2. God-Moding
Unless you have written permissions you can show to the admin saying you may kill or RP with someone else’s character, you can’t. Pretty simple.
3. Keepin’ it PG-13
I’m assuming most of us are teenagers or young adults, so that means we can be mature. That means knowing when enough is enough. Descriptive fight scenes and sex scenes are serious no’s. Yeah, we get it if your character hooks up with another, but nothing more than a few kisses and contact is allowed. “Lemons” are banned territory, but a minor “lime” is alright, as well as implications, but nothing more. Thanks.
4. Accepting Characters
Let the admin do this before you roleplay with them. It just means they get to check whether you filled everything out correctly and if they’re original. Also, if we find a Mary or Gary Sue, they will not be accepted. However, the admin will point out where it can be changed so you can roleplay with them- once they’re accepted.
5. Killing and Getting Rid of Characters
You may kill off your own characters, as long as the scene is not R-rated. If you would like, you may tell another character that they may kill your’s. Your character can disappear as well- perhaps they escaped into the Dreaming and have not been found since. But after that their bio will be moved to ‘Dead’ to prevent that annoying cyber-clutter.
6. I’m Invincible!
Yeah, no, you’re not. Your character (even if they’re dead) is or was mortal and therefore has emotions. Yes, werewolves will attack others when effed, vampires do get melancholy, and even the Fair Folk have their emo days. If you’re in a fight, you will get hurt. As an idea: for every two attacks, take one damage hit. Even if your dodge, you will get hurt at times. And keep it realistic without having too much gore; don’t make people reading cringe.
7. Posting
We understand writer’s blocks, but keep in mind we’re semi-literate here, and therefore don’t want you posting anything below 250 words.
8. Grammar and Spelling
Typos and grammatical errors grate on the admin’s nerves- and no doubt others’ as well. Please no chat-lingo, it’s impossible to understand and is not even actual English. 4realz.
Besides that, have fun! Other things may be added as trial and error reveal new nuggets, so check back on occasion.
